Random Planet Examples
Alien planets are a common setting in the sci-fi genre, so get your own unique planet name or use it to get a lot of planet name ideas to name it yourself, to be a part of your planetary system.
I've also created a hand-picked list of cool planet names ideas.
How Planets Are Named
Generated planet names consist of random vowel and consonants combinations that should make sense (the number of syllables is also randomized). To finish naming our own sci-fi or fantasy planet we just need one of the common real planet endings, like ‘nus’ or ‘ter’. For example, becoming O+b+eron or Ph+o+nus.
Randomly, it can also add things like ‘IV’ or alphanumeric like ‘B6’, adding three more characters at max. All this together is what provides so many different combinations.
Planet Art
You can also generate a unique and cool looking artwork for your planet using the Artbreeder website, which uses AI to mix multiple images that you can choose yourself. And the results may look something like this:
Or more recent AI tools like DALL·E 2 or Midjourney, that can generate unique planets with text prompts like "alien planet shot from space".
You can also use the Star Generator to get the star's name and type for your planetary system.
You are free to use generated planet names in any way for your own works.
